The view from our hotel window in the morning - market day in the piazza. Market days are Tuesday and Saturday.
We went to investigate. Clothes were for sale from 1 Euro. I took photos but now I can't find them.
We went to one of Lachie and Chiara's favourite coffee shops to make a late Fathers' Day call to catch up with Daniel and Anna.
I love croissants.
Time for Paolo's balsamic vinegar tour. Nicky, the night before had told us a good thing to do here would be a balsamic vinegar tour. She had forgotten Paolo is a balsamic connoisseur and has a room below the house with the balsamic vinegar that has been in the family for generations.
We tasted all the balsamic vinegar with a porcelain spoon. You get the authentic taste says Paulo.
Sorry, I got this this video sideways ...
Paolo is as passionate about balsamic as I am about the Rotoroa Island Education Programme. It truly is wonderful. I said I liked the balsamic which was commercialised, and that was the wrong thing to say. We are talking traditional balsamic vinegar here. Paolo was very generous with me anyway. He's very generous, and a lot of fun.
I can see the balsamic vinegar coming to Waiheke (but it's not straightforward as Paolo points out) - watch out.
Chiara peeped through the window - "Wrap it up Papa" she said. And kept saying.
Only watch this next video if you want more information. Otherwise, it's wrapped up!
Lachie , Chiara and I head for a swim. Bill is to the cafe to work.
After the swim, just down the road from us is MaxMara. Irene from the apartment insisted I go. It had started in Reggio. So off we go. Bill says to me as I leave 'No more STUFF, please!' 😘.
What a shop. So expensive and grand. We love it. Lachie is not so interested - like father, like son.
Chiara and I saw a dress for NZ$4,000. No photo as the shop assistant was looking.
Beautiful garden and restaurant next door. Chiara says it is the best restaurant in Reggio.
We go back to our room. Lachie makes himself at home. I tell Bill I got a two-for-one deal at MaxMara 😘. Chiara tells me there is a factory outlet store Max Mara. I am all in. I can't imagine Lachie and Bill coming. Thank you Irene for mentioning this store. Chiara and I loved it. Chiara met a girl she went to school with who was working in MaxMara. That is another story, that sounds like it would take two days to blog.
We go out for dinner at Risotteria dai C'Andom - a risotto restaurant in the country outside Reggio. I am not allowed to take any photos. So a night off. I took these below off the website.
We had four risottos, all shared, and we rated them. Interesting how the truffles risotto was a 10 with Paolo, and the curry one was a 10 for me. Pumpkin a 9 from Bill and mushroom a 3 from Chiara. We are all so different in our tastes . All an experience.
Paolo finished with grappe. I had a sip - too strong for me.
