Mémé gave me a ride from Swinton to London. I slept in the back a bit. We talked for some of it.
Catherine told me how to catch the new Elizabeth line from Paddington.
Then I got the train to Mountfitchet. (Ed: Guess it was one of those fancy new invisible trains.)
Freddie picked me up. I told her I had some bad news about the picnic bag. She said - You forgot it/No. You left it on the train/No. You left it in someone's car/No. And then I told her. I said I would replace it, she said you don't have to. You can't not replace things though.
After another wonderful dinner, then 3.45am wake up the next day, I left the UK on Ryanair again.
It wasn't full and we arrived at 9.00am (half an hour early). Bill was just arriving. It was super slick. I was particularly proud of myself as, not usually organising travel, I had done it.
Bill had had a fab 5 days visiting Bilbao and San Sebastian and watching lots of sports, and I had had a fab time in the UK. After we meet up at Biarritz airport we get a bus to San Sebastian.
We walk to the Tabakalera One Shot Hotel. Then we have a walk around the river, and to the beach. San Sebastian has many beaches.
We found pintxos (Basque tapas, traditional food in the region) for a late lunch / dinner. Some are better than others.
Then we went back to the hotel. It is inside the San Sebastian cultural centre building.
Breakfast the next morning was a bit different. Everything is in jars. I liked it. Bill thought it was a lot of work for the woman who had to prepare it.
This is what I picked.
Egg also in jars.
Even the bananas were in jars.
After breakfast we are meeting Miguel from Basque Bike Tours. Our biking begins on the next page.
