Naumai, welcome to my travel blog/ whakairanga rangitaki 2019/2020. (That is interesting there is a word in Māori for blog, when they did not even write 200 years ago!)
As some of you know I am interested in Māori ways, partly because they lived off the land with no pollution, they were the first humans who lived in Aotearoa, and I am learning their ways as well as their language. In this blog you will learn some Māori words and ways as I learn and can, if you choose, to grow and develop with me as I travel and write this blog. I will try and write every day and may not. I am also writing this for Jay and Jeni. Jay is Bill’s 82 year old Mum who loves to read, and Jeni is my nearly 90 year old Mum (28th July) who also loves to read. I would also like to concentrate on one big thing every 40 days. More about that later in the week, when I have worked out what and how.
Thank you in advance for being interested in any of this.
Before Bill (husband) and I left on our year of travelling (watching sport and nature) I want to thank the person who suggested I even write a blog/rangitaki. I can't remember who that was and I really didn’t think I could write a blog and anyone would be interested. I will see how that goes. It may still be the case that no-one is interested but I am prepared to give it a go anyway. Feel free to give any feedback – I like that. I am thinking this is a focus, a diary and a place for insights.
