Saturday/Rāhoroi
We took the train from Waterloo station to Southampton Parkway, about an hour southwest of London. Bill's mate Swifty came to pick us up.
Swifty is another old University College mate that Bill went to Oxford with. They talk rugby. Swifty has remarried, relocated to a lovely village near the New Forest called Breamore. We had a lovely day with Swifty, Kimberley (his wife) and Felicity, their very smart two year old. This is the three of them at lunch.
We walked around the village. This is their old house which is on the market (a shout out for anyone wanting to buy in a beautiful village).
The village cricket team was getting ready by their pavilion. It was Breamore versus Godshill, a village 4 miles away.
Then the first over which Bill and Swifty watched. No-one out yet!
I didn't want to miss out. Swifty and me.
Here are the local cows.
And Swifty's lovely Dodington House where we caught up, had lunch and explored.
The pool.
The tree you make great jelly from.
A mighty day, and we missed all but the last two points of the Wimbledon womens' final - it was all over in 55 minutes. Simona Halep beat Serena Williams - yay!
