Monday/Rāhina
We got a hotel with a swimming pool. While I was in the pool Bill tried a gym thing he had bought. (This is a "Don't go taking a photo for the blog look", Ed.) Then we had dinner at the hotel and then it was an early night.
As we were leaving the hotel, we saw this - we'd seen a Korean wedding group in the hotel earlier.
Our taxi van was much less in length by comparison, but seemed to be just as expensive - NZ$50 for a ten minute journey, from an "airport hotel". The driver had an explanation, but we think we were probably ripped off.
Then we flew out of Florence to Zurich.
A two hour wait in Zurich, then in the air again, to Copenhagen.
And this is Copenhagen airport. How organised is this? I can't wait to see other parts of Copenhagen.
Below on the left side of the street is the building we are staying in. We are in a loft, at the top between two chimneys. Bill booked this on Air Bn'b as it has an extra bedroom to accommodate Chiara and Lachie who are joining us for four days. We are here for six. Steven was the host. Once a month she (yes Steven, yes she) moves with her boy down one floor, to where the kitchen is, to rent out the loft. So it is a shared kitchen, and we never used it. There were two entrances, one from this side . . .
. . . and one from this side. Lots of tiny balconies, very sustainable, windows to bring light from outside in, and the square inside like a communal living space. This was built in the 60's and by the look of it was the "in" thing at this time.
And inside. The stairs head up to Lachie and Chiara's room.
There was this wonderful Velux window which I did not take a picture of. It opened up from the top and the bottom, and formed a window and a balcony. My brother John worked for Velux windows for a few years. I googled and found it, here below.
