We leave Bornholm at 7.00 am in the morning. This is Rønne, from the air.
Then Bornholm from the air.
A glimpse of Sweden.
Then coming into Copenhagen we see the magnificent bridge which connects Sweden with Denmark. It is called Oresund Bridge. It is 16km long. What a feat of engineering!
It disappears into the sea and goes under the sea.
The bridge goes from Copenhagen to Malmö.
This from VisitaCity website: "The huge 16km Oresund Bridge links Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmö in Sweden. An extremely impressive piece of fine architecture, the bridge is a multi-faceted rail, road, and tunnel bridge which is worth experiencing. Opened in 2000 and designed by architect George K.S. Rotne, this is an award-winning, cable-stayed bridge with a double-track for both railway and motorway.Apart from the stunning architecture, the amount of planning involved in designing this masterpiece is phenomenal. A major part of the structure, including the bridge spans and bridge piers, were built on land and later towed and aligned using a massive floating crane. The only exception to this are the pylons which were cast in situ while the bridge was under construction. The first 8 kilometers of the entire length is on the bridge itself whereas the final 4km passes through the longest underwater tunnel of the world, the artificial island of Peberholm. Peberholm Island was actually built to ease the traffic so that it can easily pass between the bridge where vehicular and rail traffic run on two different levels."
Just before it goes into the sea.
It took 4 years and 30 billion dollars to build.
The flight takes 40 minutes. We have the morning at Copenhagen airport before we fly out to New York. It is a very nice airport to spend time in.
The next flight takes 10 hours and 40 minutes. We arrive in New York at 7.30pm. This is Chris and Renee's place.
Renee is not there. We have Chris to ourselves. This is the rooftop. We are in New York. I forgot to take a photo for the blog. Chris has take aways for us. We have dinner on his roof and then we sleep.I went up the next day to get this shot..
